These are
optical and submillimeter pictures of M51. The SHARC2 image highlights the
sites of enhanced star forming activities along the spiral arms.For the first time we are also able
to identify in sub-millimeter wavelengths, a barred structure in the nucleus
of the galaxy, much like that in the nucleus of our own Milky Way Galaxy.
