APEC
Familiarization Tour Visiting at Mauna Kea.
Hawaii State will
host upcoming 4th Meeting of APEC Business Advisory Council
to be held during 7 -- 9th of November 2011 at Honolulu. APEC,
Asia-Pacific Economic
Cooperation (APEC), is a forum for 21 Pacific Rim
countries. Prior to the APEC meeting,
there have been groups of journalists that attend so called
familiarization "FAM" tours
organized by the Hawaii Host Committee for the APEC meetings.
Last week on September 16th, a FAM tour group of journalists
visited 'Imiloa and some
facilities at Mauna Kea. The journalists of this group came
mainly from Shanghai, China.
Our staff scientist, Ruisheng Peng, is helping for FAM tours to give a
presentation about
astronomy on Mauna Kea in Chinese.
We expect there will be lots of visitors worldwide related to
the APEC meeting
in November this year.
